  24. To upgrade any Hayes modem from V.FC to V.34 requires a hardware upgrade.  It
  25. can't be done with just a flash of the ROM.  You'll either have to send the
  26. modem back to Hayes for the upgrade or have them ship you chip (not sure what
  27. they do).  And they charge you for it, it's not free.
